Kid Icarus
Minneapolis, MN - Trance
Adam Leppert began listening to electronic music in the early 90’s through groups such as Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys, and Erasure. These bands helped Adam overcome, but not abandon, his one true musical love up to that point; Metallica. With his Metallica Box Set tucked safely away in his closet, Adam gained considerable interest in techno music by 1995 and began going to raves.
His first exposure to trance came in early 1996 and he was hooked immediately. He found it difficult, however, to find the style of trance he really liked on any media other than vinyl and because of this, he decided that his only choice was to buy turntables and start DJing. The name, KID ICARUS, became known the following four years through the house party scene at the U of M campus, where he also studied the interpretation of Japanese manuscripts, A.K.A. Electrical Engineering. Ironically, KID's initial brush with fame came not from his DJing but from his remarkable Scott Bakkula (Star of Quantum Leap) facial features. Following the demise of the rave scene Adam helped to start the new club scene in Minneapolis with Sound In Motion at the Quest where he held a 2+ year residency. Adam is a current resident at Plush at Tabu and Remedy at Escape.
Over the years, Adam's love for trance has grown considerably and it is because of his passion for music that he has continued DJing. His ability to perform long, energetic trance sets is contributed to by the self-discipline learned through the Martial Arts field of Karate. After nine years of intense meditation and excruciating physical training, Adam has worked his way up to the Yellow belt. He considers his musical accomplishments with Sound In Motion as the great benefits that came from just playing the music he loves to people with open ears. This is the man behind the name KID ICARUS.
