Ken Earley
Minneapolis, MN - Techno
Ken Earley brings international background, experience, and flair to the table, or turntables as has been the case for the past 8 years. Being in Nurnburg, Germany with the Army in 1995 exposed Ken to the many diverse sounds of European techno and dance music, a land where electronica reigns supreme. He quickly fell in love with techno and brought this passion with him when he returned to the U.S. in 1997. Ken shared his techno records and growing skills with the entire city of St. Cloud through the St. Cloud State radio station KVSC 88.1 on a weekly Monday night live dj show.
1998 brought Ken Earley to Minneapolis and the many opportunities of the Twin Cities. He joined the initial crew team for Mile High Productions (Soundburnt, Turned On 1 & 2, Gimme Tha Funk, etc...) in 1998, and has since provided consistant and pertinant substance to Mile High, and then into Sound In Motion and into the current date. Throughout the early years Ken helped out on the promotions/marketing realm, and loved the production of the giant Mile High raves. Ken also enjoyed working and djing various club events the Mile High and Sound In Motion would start to put together toward the end of the 1990's. Throughout the past two years with Sound In Motion, Ken has risen with his level of reponsibility, now running the Human Condition techno series for over a year. Human Condition has showcased the likes of Gaetano Parisio, Chris Liebing, Marco Carola, and many others through the doors of The Quest and Tabu Club & Lounge. Ken has also managed a wide variety of events, dj crews, and is currently in charge of developing, designing, and maintaining the Sound In Motion website.
When Ken moved to Minneapolis he was intrigued by the deep basslines and sped-up rhythms of drum & bass, and switched his dj style to jungle. His Mile High sets of drum & bass helped pioneer and push the sound across many levels. It should come as no surprise that Ken's love for dance music has been torn between techno and drum & bass. Both use nasty, dark basslines, pulsing breaks and rhythms, and power surges of activity. Throughout recent years Ken has been throwing down sick techno sets in 3-turntable sets, as well as incorporating the Peavey Grabber sampler into his sets. Precise and clean is the style preferred, and you will be technofied when exposed to this incredible performer!
